Gay Travel in Tuscany
Italy is an extremely popular travel destination for gay travellers. Despite what goes on in other parts of the world, being gay is definitely not frowned upon in Italy. In fact, it is welcomed and embraced by many, including the mayor of Viareggio.
For two years in a row, he has extended an invitation to gay and lesbian travelers to visit Viareggio and Torre del Lago in Versilia, the coastal area of Tuscany. There’s plenty of excitement for everyone, as promised by the mayor. He states, it is really nice to see a city or region evolving this way. It’s something you can be recognized worldwide for.
Sexuality seems to be heating up in Italy lately. Gone are the days of straight acting heterosexuals only boasting their sexuality up and down the streets: everything has changed. Gay and lesbians walk around and show themselves openly and proudly as well. Being proud of your sexuality is essential.
Gay life is extremely hot in Tuscany. There is certainly plenty of action for gay and lesbian travelers who can get together in GLBT pubs, restaurants, shops in all the towns of the area and in a large beach inside a natural park.
I would not hesitate to say that Italy is definitely a wonderful place to visit. There’s basically something there for everyone. This is a place where you can truly relax and be comfortable with your partner.
Here’s a list of gay and gay-friendly places you must visit when touring Tuscany:
Podere Paderno Gay owned luxury villa in Tuscany: charming country villa right in the middle of a scenic hilly area. A two-storey typical Tuscan country house, it has a comfortable veranda with a marvellous view over the surrounding fields up to the medieval town Volterra.
Italian Courses in a gay-friendly environment: Learn Italian in a gay-friendly environment and in the heart of a town with a lively gay community? Well, today it is not so difficult.
Gavillaccio - Gay friendly accommodation near Chianti
Friendly Versilia: is a project started in 1998 with the aim of giving visibility to the large and still hidden GLBT community in Torre del Lago, a nice town between waters, those of the sea and those of Massaciuccoli Lake, between Viareggio and Pisa.
