Parco Alta Valdera: between Pisa and Volterra

The “Park” of the Valdera region consists of six municipalities: Capannoli, Chianni, Lajatico, Peccioli, Palaia, and Terricciola. These six towns have joined together to work towards a common goal, each retaining its own identity but working together as a homogenously united team.

The stay in the Alta Valdera Park is a marriage between smells, fragances and colors. This is a land of numerous climate resouces, mild and temperate, of landscape, varies and endless, of genuine tastes and of quality.
The farmhouses, deep in the gree, offer the tourist the opportunity to stay here under the ban of the variety of the possibilities to discover the territory.

Everybody, from the families with children, to the excursionist tourist, can find here an environment suited for one’s own need in the varieties of typologies of the reception facilities of the Park. Next to the usual services, swimming-pool or green recreational places, it is possible to take advantage of the various sport facilities: marked routes in the nature, archery, target shooting, bowling green, etc…

Many companies, some of them biologically certified, offer the opportunity to buy and taste the products by the company: oil, honey, jams to satisfy even the most pretending palates. Countelss are the cellars belonging to the Wine Road of the Pisan Hills producing some wines successfully introduced on the market and got from very good quality grapes: the Chianti DOCG, the white wine from the Pisa district called san Torpè DOC, the Vin Santo, the IGT Tuscan wine.

The local dishes and products are the basis of the restaurants and refreshment places to be found on this territory an the wine and food events and festivals connected to the traditions of this land; some season’s appointments which are well-known and appreciated, take place all over the year as to mark the season rhythm.
It is quoting the events promoting chestnuts, strawberries, the “colombana” grapes, the truffle, mushrooms and the wild pig.
