The Etruscan Coast, also called the Etruscan Riviera, is located in the province of Livorno and extends along the coastal area between Livorno and Piombino. It is ideal for a beach holiday in Tuscany. The Etruscan Coast offers a variety of beaches which range from rocky coasts up to sandy beaches, and includes some of the most beautiful beaches of Tuscany.
North of the Etruscan coast, along the rocky coast between Livorno and Castiglioncello, you can find pretty little bays, but which are very crowded between high season. The pine forests, which are a symbol of the Etruscan Riviera, start at the city Vada, which is famous for its white sandy beach.
In the southern part of Cecina Mare you will find miles of sandy beaches, which are ideal for families with children. The many pine trees offer shade and are ideal for hiking tours.
Long, mostly sandy, beaches extend from Marina di Cecina up to Marina di Bibbona , Marina di Castagneto ( Donoratico ), San Vincenzo and Rimigliano.

Gulf di Baratti; alessandraelle
The Gulf of Baratti with sandy beaches is probably one of the most charming and most beautiful bays in Tuscany.
At Populonia begins the rocky coast of the peninsula, which offers unique rock formations and which is an ideal area for snorkelling and diving. Some coves are only accessible by boat. At the port of Baratti it is possible to book boat trips or to rent a boat and to learn scuba diving.
On the outskirts of Piombino, there is the bay of Cala Moresca, where a wonderful hiking trail along the coast begins. It offers an unique view of the deep blue sea up to the island of Elba and a sometimes difficult access to small coves.
South of Piombino we find again sandy beaches in the Gulf of Follonica and in the Natural Park Sterpaia. The beaches of Carbonifera and Torre Mozza offer beautiful clear water and are ideal for swimming.
